Aldermen / Town Hall

Dylan Lightfoot, Mayor

Dylan Lightfoot moved to Lansing in 2011 and volunteered to fill an empty seat on the board the following year. An editor with McFarland & Co., Dylan lives on Big Horse Creek with his wife and three children.

Jim Blevins, Alderman

Jim Blevins grew up in Lansing and attended the Lansing School, where his mother taught for 45 years. He joined the Army during Vietnam, and later went to law schoolnow he's a retired lawyer and a retired lieutenant colonel. After his wife of 45 years passed away, he moved back to Lansing and now lives in the house that has been in his family since 1929. Jim currently sits on the High Country Council of Government Advisory Board as the town's representative.

Jack Brown, Alderman

A board member since 2010, Jack Brown has lived in Lansing for 54 years—a retired truck driver, after 23 years on the road. He and his wife have one daughter and a grandson.

Matt Cordell, Alderman

Matt Cordell is the owner of the local artisan pizza parlor, Pie on the Mountain, and has been on the board since 2015.

Cheyenne Blevins, Alderman

Cheyenne grew up in the area and went to Ashe County Schools. She went on to college in Virginia and Tennessee, then came back to Ashe to work with her father, Kevin Blevins, at Stitches Custom Upholstery in Lansing. Now a co-owner of the business, Cheyenne sits as the youngest Alderman in Lansing history.

Tom Richardson, Alderman

Tom was born and raised in Lansing and currently resides with his wife in the former Presbyterian Church Parsonage he purchased on main street. He works at United Chemi-Con as a department manager and has two sons, a stepson and three grandchildren.
